The Best Pumpkin Products at Trader Joe’s

The Best Pumpkin Products at Trader Joe’s

October 1, 2021 Off By Lynn

Autumn is also known as “pumpkin spice season.” But not being a huge fan of Starbucks myself, I prefer to find my pumpkin flavor elsewhere. And where better than the local grocery store? In my case this is the popular Trader Joe’s.

I walked into my local Brooklyn Trader Joe’s a couple weeks ago and was amazed that the pumpkin products had suddenly arrived! And, if any of you have ever walked into a Trader Joe’s, this means there are tons of pumpkin items to choose from. It’s almost impossible to try every product within a season without completely breaking your budget.

I’ve tried multiple products over the last few years, looking for good flavor without overpowering salt or sugar additions. So, in light of my research, here are my top seven pumpkin products I can unreservedly recommend and that I personally get each year:

1) Pumpkin Purée

Pumpkin Purée is perhaps the most solid choice you can make during pumpkin spice season. Probably most used for making pumpkin pie, it is also used for making a variety of other pumpkin dishes. After all, if you need to add pumpkin to something, you tend to do it in purée form!

I grew up with Libby’s Pumpkin Purée, but I find the Trader Joe’s version to be just as good. I love using it to make pumpkin pancakes and pumpkin chocolate chip muffins (check out the recipe here)!

2) Pumpkin Bagels

Pumpkin bagels are a staple favorite in my household. Perfect to grab to a quick meal, these bagels have plenty of pumpkin and cinnamon flavor. I recommend enjoying with peanut butter and a drizzle of pure maple syrup! Of course they are also splendid plain.

I noticed this year that Trader Joe’s also has a gluten free version. I haven’t tried it, but I’m guessing it would be worth trying if you need gluten free!

3) Pumpkin Ice Cream

The pumpkin ice cream is my most dangerous temptation out of this entire list. A rich creamy spiced pumpkin, this ice cream comes in a quart size. No flavor is spared. And, at least in Brooklyn, it tends to be grabbed quickly!

4) Pumpkin Greek Yogurt

I view the pumpkin Greek yogurt as the healthy alternative to ice cream. Much more nutritious and not missing any flavor! I will say the flavor is not quite as creamy as the ice cream, but that is to be expected as a yogurt. Packaged in individual containers, it is also another great option for a grab-and-go snack.

5) Pumpkin Biscotti

The pumpkin biscotti are a great crunchy snack dessert paired with a warm cup of tea or coffee. Made with real pumpkin purée and spices, this warming snack will fill you with all the autumn flavors without being overly sweet. And it does remind me of a crunchy pumpkin pie…perfect!

6) Pumpkin Rooboos Tea

Consider pairing your biscotti with the Pumpkin Rooboos Tea for double the pumpkin flavor! This tea has a dose of warming spices, much like a light version of chai, mixed with the calming pumpkin flavor. And luckily for us insomniacs, this tea is also caffeine-free, making it a perfect late afternoon or evening tea. A great choice for those crisp autumn evenings!

7) Pumpkin Cranberry Crisps

These very crunchy crisps are a great addition to your holiday spreads. Dried cranberry adds a hint of sweetness to the pumpkin spice flavor. They also have a very mild spice “kick” of turmeric, adding to the savory taste. Excellent paired with cheese! I recommend a soft cheese like goat or Brie, but others work too!

Just a note that these products are not listed in any particular order. It really comes down to personal preference at the time. But in general, I do get all of these products within a fall season—I can’t help it, they are too good! I will admit, I’ve tried to limit myself to only one ice cream though!

Have you tried any of these products? Did you have a favorite? Let me know in the comments!
